So apparently the "ButtHurt Brigade" (or however they penned it) group was disbanded and some of the principle/active members(?) were banned.
Frankly, whilst that group was good for some cheap lulz, it was really nothing more than a group of self-satisfied, superior little internet troglodytes who got their jollies by calling other people out, in my opinion. Sure, a lot of those people deserved to be called out, but--honestly.
a) WHY waste your time and life doing it?! Ignore the morons and they eventually wither. They're just like trolls!
b) So--what, you're perfect, so you've made it your life's mission to ride someone else's case? If you want to do that, go be a college professor at a big university. At least then you can point to your degree when someone demands to know who the hell you are to come after them.
c) What happened to kindness? Seriously?
d) People have increasingly over the years used "it's the internet, get used to it" and "if you can't handle this then real life will kill you" and like statements to defend flagrant acts of lewdness, rudeness and personal attacks. Um, sorry--when was the last time a TOTAL STRANGER came up to you on the street and told you that you were fat and ugly and your clothes are stupid and that you should go die in a fire because you're black/gay/bi/not asian/white/female/male/trans/ETC ETC ETC.
and this point leads me to my next--
since when did not reacting to offensive statements directed AT YOU PERSONALLY become the kool kid thing to do? Sorry, not reacting emotionally is actually one of the indicators of certain types of psychological and physiological conditions. A troll thrives on eliciting emotional reactions out of other people, which he or she then scorns from some fictitious position of superiority. Hey guess what--there's another name for that. It's BULLYING. Shocker, I know. But this is the exact same behavior I see on the playground and in the lunchroom and it is NOT ACCEPTABLE.
So--sorry, troll, you're not funny, you're not smart. You're a bully, and you're wasting your time and everyone else's time. This topic just--it enrages me. I see the consequences of online AND offline bullying everyday (and you know what? I've had to LIVE those consequences, and it's because I was just a little different than the bitchy girls who decided that I was their target), and it cannot be allowed to continue.
Now--don't come at me saying that these people deserved it or asked for it by acting like morons--I am not denying that the VAST majority of dA users seem to have the critical thinking and reasoning capabilities of a towel rack, but you know what? IGNORE THEM.</b> Let them exist in their little bubbles of inanity. It will either eventually pop and they'll grow the hell up, or they'll remain that way for the rest of their lives and be miserable without even knowing WHY--and who are you to take away such a poetic punishment?!
Seriously though, I'm glad that the people who were fomenting such ill feeling and dissent are gone. They obviously lacked the emotional maturity to be trusted with a tool like the internet.
(Also, you know how you avoid morons? You stay in your nice little corner of dA and don't go looking for the dArama. There are SO SO SO SO SO MANY BETTER WAYS TO SPEND YOUR TIME DAMMIT. GET A LIFE.)
