Two Elves and a Man

OK so--this needs a LOT of preface to explain.

1) I have been a fan of the Lord of the Rings since I read the books when I was about 8 years old. It's only gotten worse from there, and I have an insatiable appetite for all things Tolkien. The Silmarillion especially enthralled me, and of COURSE Maedhros broke my elf-obsessed heart.

2) The Hobbit premiere was the PERFECT excuse to make a costume. Now--I only had about an active week to really work on this, as I was in school up until a week to the premier. So it's really not done, though there's a good start here. I need to add more trim and make a few adjustments, as well as get something better for the underneath than a creme coloured turtleneck.

3) This was the test shoot for the costume. It was about -5 degrees in the high rockies here, and we were FREEZING. So I look a little weird in all of these photos.

4) I know Maedhros' hair isn't BRIGHT red, but this is the wig I have currently. It's really actually quite a nice wig, but trying to curl these iron (heat resistant) fibres was an exercise in futility.

Anyway--I am always hesitant to show off cosplay photos because I really sort of have some severe body image issues and think that everything looks terrible on me, BUT THERE YOU GO.

LASTLY and most CERTAINLY not least, my costume is directly patterned from 's images of Maedhros, this one in particular.


Again--my costume doesn't match hers totally (YET), but I'm working on it. I'm also short and female and human, which I sort of can't fix (no matter how much I may want to).
